What We're Looking For
- Experience: 4+ years of professional software development experience in a fullstack or backend-heavy role.
- Polyglot Proficiency:
- Strong commercial experience with Ruby (preferably Ruby on Rails) for web application development.
- Solid proficiency in Python (Django, FastAPI, or similar) with an understanding of data processing.
- Production experience or a strong foundational knowledge of Rust, particularly in building concurrent, memory-safe, and high-performance applications.
- Frontend Knowledge: Experience working with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or Next.js) and a solid understanding of web fundamentals (HTML/CSS).
- Database Expertise: Deep knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL stores (Redis, MongoDB), including query optimization and schema design.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure, and containerization orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Mindset: You are a problem-solver who embraces ambiguity. You care more about solving the problem effectively than being strictly tied to one programming language.
Bonus Points
- Experience migrating legacy applications (e.g., Ruby/Python to Rust).
- Contributions to open-source projects in Rust, Ruby, or Python.
- Familiarity with WebAssembly (Wasm).
