Job Description
As a Gameplay Animator at Ubisoft Montreal, you will be responsible for creating animations and animation systems for the first-person main character, as well as the corresponding replication animations for the third-person view.
What you will do:
- Create first-person animations aligned with the visual language defined by the animation direction and game design constraints.
- Produce high-quality keyframe animations based on various video references.
- Process and enhance motion capture data, used as a foundation for certain animation systems.
- Adjust animation data with high precision, taking into account the requirements of the game engine.
- Export and integrate animations according to technical guidelines, in collaboration with technical direction, technical animation, programming, and design.
- Test, analyze, and revise animation systems directly in-game.
- Collaborate closely with other animators, animation direction, programming, and design to deliver work that meets quality and schedule objectives.
- Take responsibility for the final in-game feel, a key criterion for evaluating animation quality.
Qualifications
- Solid experience in gameplay animation for video games.
- Proven expertise in 3C animation and first-person (FPS) animation systems.
- Excellent mastery of motion capture data processing.
- A keen eye for detail and a high standard for visual quality.
- A collaborative and open approach, favoring the search for compromises when facing complex issues.
- An ability to demonstrate flexibility and manage adjustments related to production.
- A good understanding of the technical constraints related to integration into a game engine.
- Comfort working in a multidisciplinary environment, while respecting artistic and technical visions.
- Knowledge of MotionBuilder is considered an asset.
- Participation in a shipped AAA game is a plus.
