This is a hands – on role, which day to day will be focusing primarily on being part of the multi skilled team and will have zone ownership responsibilities within their area of work. The role holder will be the support structure for Operations Shift Lead, performing the duties of the role during absence/holiday cover. The role holder will be a designed senior manager during outside of office hours (Mon – Fri) when covering the Operations Shift Lead role. *For certain roles, we may ask you to declare any unspent criminal convictions in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 at a later stage in the recruitment process and prior to any offer of employment being made. Responsibilities Day-to-day To perform the duties of the multi – skilled operative during the day to day operations, while not covering for Operations Shift Lead role To have total zone ownership within the area of work, while not covering for Operations Shift Lead role. This means you will be responsible for co – ordinating activities within the area by coordinating people, processes and plant Follow established QCDM principles and key measures during the day to day activities Quality champion on shift. During the deputy duties for Operations Shift Lead role: To manage and lead the on shift team using the agreed QCDM processes and principles, driving excellence in their work and continuously striving for improvements in working practices Accountable for the balanced scorecard delivery on shift Manage shift stakeholders ensuring timely and effective communication– e.g. to Operations Manager on days Responsible for key people processes on shift e.g. RTWs and site communications. Responsible for short term manning decisions. Act as the point of contact for any non-executional, task based shift requirements Responsible for overall GEMBA across all areas of the shift Responsible for coordinating the 12 hourly QCDM escalation meeting on shift Responsible for the leadership and decision–making for the factory during out of office hours (Mon – Fri, 08:00 – 17:00). This includes being an Incident Controller on site during emergency situations. Qualifications Experience/Competencies Required: Experience in a manufacturing environment (minimum 3+ years) Coaching skills Problem – solving skills, ideally gained through lean six sigma qualification Management experience of leading teams is preferred Flexible, ‘can do,’ attitude to role and duties. Results driven and understands the link between action & results. Good communicator with individuals at all levels. Ability to influence upwards and across in the organisation Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to prioritise. We pride ourselves on our superb work force.
