General QA Engineer

Summary

QA Engineer tests and validates a platform migration, focusing on manual and automated testing for web apps, APIs, and distributed systems, with SQL and CI/CD integration.

General QA Engineer

Description

The General QA Engineer will be responsible for supporting the assessment, preparation, and execution of the migration and deployment of the Netrio/Oculus platform into the target production environment. This role will ensure that the deployed solution meets functional, integration, data quality, automation testing, and production readiness requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

The QA Engineer will participate in test planning, manual and automated test execution, validation activities, defect management, and production support to help ensure a successful migration, deployment, and go-live process.

The engagement will be delivered in two phases:

  1. Assessment and Planning – Review requirements and existing architecture, identify quality risks, define the manual and automation testing approach, and prepare test plans for migration and deployment activities.

  1. Production Build, Migration, Testing, and Go-Live Support – Execute manual and automated testing, validate migration results and data quality, support defect management, verify production readiness, and provide post-go-live hypercare testing support.

Requirements
  • Hands-on experience in manual testing and automated testing of web applications, APIs, and distributed systems.

  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, RestAssured, or similar tools.

  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages used for test automation, such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.

  • Experience testing RESTful APIs using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, or automated API testing frameworks.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience validating data in relational and time-series databases, including MySQL and InfluxDB.

  • Familiarity with event-driven and streaming architectures, including Kafka and Flink.

  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), QA methodologies, defect management, and test reporting practices.

  • Experience with version control systems such as Git and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and the ability to integrate automated tests into deployment pipelines.

  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or similar tools is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of production deployment validation, monitoring, log analysis, and troubleshooting in distributed environments.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
  • Review project requirements, architecture documentation, migration plans, and functional specifications to identify testing needs and quality risks.

  • Develop and execute manual test cases and test scenarios for application functionality, integrations, and migration-related activities.

  • Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for functional, regression, integration, and API testing.

  • Build and improve automation testing frameworks and reusable test components to increase testing efficiency and coverage.

  • Validate data migration and synchronization results to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of transferred data.

  • Verify data parity between Netrio and SolarWinds systems and support the investigation and resolution of discrepancies.

  • Perform database validation and data quality checks using SQL queries against InfluxDB, MySQL, and other relevant data sources.

  • Participate in functional, integration, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing activities as required.

  • Validate production readiness from a quality assurance perspective, including verification of system stability, configuration accuracy, and expected functionality.

  • Identify, document, track, and retest defects in collaboration with development, DevOps, and technical teams.

  • Support testing activities during production cutover and post-go-live hypercare monitoring.

  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of test plans, automated test reports, defect reports, and QA status documentation.
