About the Project

iOwnMyBenefits is developing an AI-powered employee benefits management platform that enables employees to track employer-provided and personally purchased insurance benefits, assess their coverage, identify potential gaps and obtain quotes for additional insurance products.

We are looking for a hands-on Generative AI Developer who can design, develop and integrate AI capabilities into our existing WordPress-based website and associated web application.

The selected candidate will be responsible for developing intelligent document processing, AI-powered benefits analysis, conversational AI assistants and automated workflows.

This is an opportunity to build an AI-driven fintech/insurtech application from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop AI-powered applications using OpenAI APIs and other Large Language Models (LLMs).
2. Build intelligent document processing capabilities to extract information from insurance policies, benefit statements and PDF documents.
3. Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems to enable AI to understand and answer questions based on uploaded insurance documents.
4. Build an AI Benefits Advisor chatbot that can understand employee benefits and respond to user queries.
5. Develop AI-based insurance coverage gap analysis and comparison functionality.
6. Implement AI workflows to identify coverage overlaps, limitations, exclusions and potential protection gaps.
7. Build automated data extraction and structured data storage pipelines.
8. Develop AI agents and workflow automation for benefits assessment, report generation and quote request processing.
9. Integrate AI services with WordPress and external applications through REST APIs.
10. Implement secure document processing, authentication, data privacy and access controls.
11. Optimize AI response accuracy, performance, reliability and API costs.
12. Work with the existing WordPress developer to integrate AI functionality into the platform.

Required Technical Skills

Programming and Backend Development

• Strong Python programming skills.
• FastAPI or Flask.
• REST API development and integration.
• JSON, SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Git and version control.

Generative AI and LLM

• Hands-on experience with OpenAI APIs (GPT models).
• Experience with Anthropic Claude, Gemini or equivalent LLMs.
• Prompt engineering and structured output generation.
• Function calling and tool integration.
• AI agent development and workflow orchestration.

RAG and Vector Databases

• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• LangChain, LangGraph or LlamaIndex.
• Embeddings and semantic search.
• Vector databases such as Pinecone, Chroma, Qdrant or PostgreSQL pgvector.

Document Intelligence

• PDF parsing and document processing.
• OCR technologies such as Tesseract, AWS Textract or Azure Document Intelligence.
• Extracting structured information from complex documents.
• Experience processing tables, forms and scanned documents.

AI Integration and Deployment

• Integration of AI applications with WordPress through REST APIs.
• Experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Docker and application deployment.
• AI output validation, error handling and monitoring.

Good to Have

• Experience in insurance, employee benefits, fintech or financial services applications.
• Experience developing insurance policy analysis or financial document processing applications.
• Knowledge of React or JavaScript.
• Experience with AI evaluation frameworks such as Ragas or LangSmith.
• Knowledge of data privacy, encryption and secure document storage.

Initial Project Deliverables

The candidate will initially work on developing the following AI capabilities:

1. AI Policy Reader: Upload insurance policy PDFs and automatically extract policy details, coverage amounts, premiums, exclusions and renewal dates.
2. AI Benefits Inventory: Convert extracted policy information into structured employee benefits records.
3. AI Benefits Advisor: Build a conversational assistant that answers questions based on the employee's actual benefits and uploaded policy documents.
4. AI Coverage Gap Analysis: Compare existing insurance coverage against employee income, family needs and financial protection requirements.
5. AI Benefits Report: Generate a personalized report highlighting existing coverage, potential gaps, overlaps and recommended follow-up actions.
6. AI Quote Assistant: Collect relevant information and prepare structured insurance quote requests for licensed insurance professionals.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who:

• Has hands-on experience building and deploying Generative AI applications.
• Can independently develop working AI solutions rather than just experiment with prompts.
• Understands how to integrate AI models with real-world business applications.
• Can work collaboratively with an existing WordPress development team.
• Can take ownership of AI development from design through deployment.
