Job Objectives:

This position supports the development and execution of the Field concession program through the management of geospatial information, land allocation processes, and GIS services. The role is responsible for maintaining and developing the centralized GIS database, supporting the GIS Management of Change (MOC) process, and providing accurate spatial information to support engineering, HSE, construction, UXO, and operational activities.

Activities:

Leadership

  • Perform all duties in compliance with HSE requirements and actively support the "Nobody Gets Hurt" initiative.
  • Collaborate with the GIS and UXO teams to plan, prioritize, and execute assigned work activities in accordance with project objectives and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Process land allocation and land use requests through the established GIS Management of Change (MOC) process, ensuring compliance with project procedures and approval workflows.
  • Prepare a wide range of GIS maps, spatial datasets, and cartographic products to support operational, engineering, HSE, and management requirements.
  • Perform GIS-based spatial analysis, conflict detection, and land use assessments to identify potential overlaps, constraints, and operational risks.
  • Receive, verify, validate, and maintain UXO Completion Reports within the GIS database, ensuring data integrity and completeness.
  • Perform verification and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of field survey data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with project standards, and report discrepancies where identified.
  • Utilize specialized equipment (GPS, DGPS, and geographic information system [GIS] devices) to survey, locate, trace, measure and record boundaries and infrastructure in the I field.
  • Conduct field inspections and surveillance activities to monitor infrastructure, land use, environmental conditions, and operational activities, reporting anomalies such as spills, leaks, unauthorized activities, environmental breaches, and other management-directed observations.
  • Examine, compare, and reconcile historical and current spatial records, engineering documentation, and survey data to ensure accuracy and maintain a reliable GIS database.
  • Prepare detailed survey deliverables, including maps, plots, sketches, spatial datasets, technical reports, and supporting documentation using approved templates and procedures.
  • Process, validate, integrate, and maintain project as-built information, engineering drawings, survey data, and other geospatial datasets within the enterprise GIS environment.
  • Maintain GIS databases, ensuring data quality, version control, metadata compliance, and adherence to corporate GIS standards.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and contractors to collect, validate, and update spatial information, ensuring consistency across all project datasets.
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to local personnel in GIS systems, surveying techniques, spatial data management, and established GIS procedures.
  • Prepare periodic reports, statistics, dashboards, and spatial analyses to support management reporting and operational planning.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve GIS workflows, data models, and automation tools to enhance efficiency and data quality.

Expected:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems (GIS), Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, Engineering, Topography, or a related discipline. A diploma may be substituted with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant GIS experience supporting oil and gas operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in GIS database development, spatial data integration, geodatabase management, data automation, and web mapping applications.
  • Experience with Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) / Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) or humanitarian/commercial demining geodatabases is desired.
  • The candidate shall possess technical proficiency in the following software and systems: ESRI ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and AutoCAD.
  • It is desirable that the candidate has experience with ArcGIS Enterprise/Server (v10.1 or higher), ArcGIS Online, ArcSDE geodatabases, and relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • The candidate shall demonstrate strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Skills:

  • Good physical fitness (stamina) is required (20% of the job is fieldwork that involves working outdoors in all types of weather and over rough terrain, walking long distances and standing for extended periods while taking measurements).
  • The candidate must have excellent reading, writing, and spoken English proficiency and should be a strong communicator of technical language to native and non-native English speakers.
  • Desired skills include strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, problem solving, delivering solutions and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver technical training and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple job tasks simultaneously.
