GIS Manager

The GIS Manager role is hybrid, combining leadership and governance responsibilities with hands-on GIS delivery and technical contributions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the UK GIS team
  • Managing reporting, procurement, and supplier relationships
  • Implementing and maintaining GIS governance, standards, and best practices in line with central IT direction
  • Ensuring compliance with GIS policies, data management procedures, and approved tools across UK projects
  • Supporting and promoting the effective use of GIS solutions across the business
  • Providing GIS expertise to development, project delivery, asset management, and operations teams
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and the global GIS community
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of GIS capabilities and ways of working
  • Undertaking site visits, attending industry events, and maintaining professional development
  • Supporting wider business initiatives and strategic projects as required
  • Undertaking occasional UK and international travel
  • University degree in a relevant field, or GIS Diploma with experience in a similar field, creating maps and visual data for projects
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of GIS software and platforms, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and/or ArcGIS Online, geodatabases, and FME and/or Python
  • Ability to adapt to other new software and systems
  • Ability to manage a large workload in a dynamic, fast-paced working environment
  • Ability to build relationships quickly and work across different project teams
  • Experience procuring digital mapping information
  • Experience in a leadership role, or a clear aptitude for leadership
  • Experience creating Registers of Scotland or HM Land Registry compliant plans (desirable)
