Global Recruitment Associate (Fixed-Term)

Open 62d posting dated 5 days ago

Summary

Owns global talent sourcing strategy, leads a small team, and fills hard-to-fill roles across 10 African markets for a large agri-tech nonprofit.

About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across ten countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. On average, this model enables any farmer to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This is all made possible by our team of 9,000+ full-time staff, drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. To learn more, please see our Why Work Here blog post.

About the Role

Every year, tens of thousands of people apply to work at One Acre Fund. Behind each of those applications is a person waiting to hear back, and behind each open role is a team waiting for the help. Your job is to serve those hiring teams well, which means running your recruitment roles diligently, going out and finding outstanding talent rather than waiting for it to arrive, and placing the right people in the roles that are open.

We are looking for someone with three or more years of experience who has handled a lot of moving pieces at once and kept them all on track. You have owned several workstreams in parallel, and none of them quietly fell apart. You have managed or coordinated other people, set expectations for them, and followed through when those expectations were not met. You are comfortable with senior stakeholders, so you can take a leader's priority, turn it into a plan, keep them updated without being asked, and come back with results. You meet people easily and stay in touch with them, which matters here because finding great candidates is as much outreach as it is screening.

Most importantly, you are a problem-solver who takes feedback well. Our hiring processes change often, and the people who do best at One Acre Fund treat a correction as useful information and adjust quickly.

Experience as a recruiter or talent acquisition specialist is helpful but not essential. We encourage you to apply if your background is in consulting, business development, project management, strategy and operations, or anywhere else you have had to keep many moving parts on track for people who were counting on you.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Own 8 to 12 roles at once. Each one can hold hundreds of candidates at any given time, and every one of those candidates deserves a process that runs on schedule and treats them well.
  • Serve as the business partner to your hiring managers. You will work with leaders across One Acre Fund to understand what they actually need, turn that into a hiring plan with realistic timelines, keep them updated as the search moves, and deliver the right hire for each role.
  • Go out and find talent. Screening candidates already in the application process is only half the job. You will source proactively for the roles that are hard to fill and build relationships with strong people you will want to call on for future searches.
  • Manage a small team of recruiters. You will have one to three recruiters reporting to you. That means tracking how they are performing against their goals, giving feedback often enough that nothing comes as a surprise, and mentoring them to get better at the work.
  • Use the data to make hiring better. You will track candidates from application through to hire in our Applicant Tracking System, spot what is slowing us down, and see improvements through to something that measurably works better than what it replaced.

Career Growth and Development

We have a strong culture of constant learning and we invest in developing our people. You’ll have weekly check-ins with your manager, access to mentorship and training programs, and regular feedback on your performance. We hold career reviews every six months, and set aside time to discuss your aspirations and career goals. You’ll have the opportunity to shape a growing organization and build a rewarding long-term career.

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, we want a professional with at least 4 years of experience, gained ideally in a social enterprise, high-growth, or multi-country environment. Recruiting experience is welcome but not required. Beyond that, you should bring:

  • Project management experience. You have seen projects through to completion, run several of them at once, and enjoy working in the details.
  • People management experience. You have managed or coordinated others, set goals for them, tracked how they performed against those goals, and had the difficult conversation when someone fell short.
  • Stakeholder management experience. You have worked with senior people, turned their priorities into a plan, kept them informed as it progressed, and delivered results back to them.
  • Proficiency in English is required. French is a bonus.
