Government & Institutional Business Development Manager

Discussion

We are looking for a Government & Institutional Business Development Manager to own our sales into India's public health systems. Public procurement is the single largest opportunity for our devices, and it needs someone who already knows how these systems buy.

You will be based in Bangalore with national travel, and you will build the government channel from the ground up.

What You'll Do

  • Own sales into public health systems including ESI, GeM, Railways, Command Hospitals, Departments of Medical Education, the National Health Mission, and programmes such as JSSK and RBSK.
  • Drive local and district-level procurement alongside central and state channels.
  • Manage the full tender lifecycle: identify opportunities, prepare and submit bids, handle technical and commercial evaluation, and follow through to purchase order.
  • Secure and maintain our empanelments, rate contracts and GeM listings.
  • Build and manage relationships with distributors and channel partners across states who can carry us into government procurement.
  • Engage medical officers, hospital superintendents, procurement officers and programme officials to build demand ahead of tenders.
  • Maintain an accurate pipeline of tenders, submissions and outcomes in our CRM, with realistic timelines.
  • Represent BEMPU at government health conferences, programme reviews and exhibitions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years selling medical devices, diagnostics or healthcare products into Indian government and institutional health systems.
  • Demonstrated experience winning public tenders, with a clear understanding of bid documentation, technical specifications, earnest money deposits and evaluation processes.
  • Working knowledge of the GeM portal and of rate contract and empanelment mechanics.
  • Existing relationships with distributors or channel partners for government procurement in multiple states.
  • Familiarity with national health programmes, particularly those touching maternal and newborn health.
  • Willingness to travel nationally on a regular basis.
  • Strong written English for tender documentation, and comfort presenting to senior government officials.
  • Bachelor's degree; Science, Pharmacy, Engineering or Business preferred.

Benefits

  • Ownership of the largest untapped channel in the business, with the freedom to build it your way.
  • The credibility of a product backed by peer-reviewed evidence and by the Gates Foundation, USAID, UNICEF and WHO.
  • Direct collaboration with BEMPU's founder and clinical team.
  • Health insurance and statutory benefits as applicable.

Start Date: As soon as possible.
