About the role
The GPD Services Manager oversees the complete and consistent flow of information for new items and global product changes, acting as the Global Sampling and Program Deployment Lead for all customer development initiatives. This leadership role is critical for driving cross-functional alignment, managing independent projects, and guiding a dedicated team to achieve optimal service reliability and quality targets. The successful candidate will leverage end-to-end thinking to optimize processes, resolve complex challenges, and ensure seamless communication across global manufacturing sites.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the Global Sampling and Program Deployment Lead for assigned customer development initiatives and problem escalation, bearing overall responsibility for item development and deployment.
Oversee the completeness and consistent information flow for new programs and global product changes across sales, customers, and process owners.
Supervise, motivate, coach, and develop a team of GPD Officers, monitoring their daily execution, workload, and performance to achieve service and quality targets.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and consistent availability of samples, proofs, formats, data integrity tests, and ink draw-downs for global manufacturing sites.
Facilitate effective communication with manufacturing sites through the First Order Deployment process.
Lead and manage management projects independently, utilizing a critical, big-picture, and end-to-end thinking process to drive improvement and preventive measures.
Drive cross-functional discussion, collaboration, and alignment for customer programs, acting as a coach and role model to the team.
Translate Avery Dennison strategy, values, and ethics into clear targets for the team across related areas.
Demonstrate an excellent sense of urgency and issue escalation by identifying problems early and providing effective solutions.
Minimum 6 years of professional experience in merchandising and/or new product development.
At least 2 years of experience in a relevant field and a minimum of 4 years of experience in people management.
Strong leadership skills paired with solid business acumen and a creative aptitude.
Demonstrated ability to utilize end-to-end thinking, critically analyze the full picture, and manage crisis situations effectively.
Strong aptitude for handling details, controlling processes, and monitoring performance and quality.
Excellent team management, communication, and negotiation skills.
Fluent in written and conversational English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Strong ability to organize and coordinate people and resources for the successful implementation of plans and processes.
Excellent adaptability to changes and strong resilience when working under pressure.
