Hardware Systems Design Engineer, Platforms Infrastructure
Summary
Designs and builds custom silicon and hardware systems for Google's data centers, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance ML/AI infrastructure from concept to production.
As a hardware engineer in the board and system design team, you will work on Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (ML/AI) hardware systems projects to craft the solutions for current and future data center deployments. You will work with product teams to ensure that their goals are met with your systems. You will work with Application-Specific Integrated Circuit/Field-Programmable Gate Array (ASIC/FPGA), Software, and Verification teams to ensure proper verification of features in your systems. You will work with the manufacturing teams to ensure that your designs are manufactured and ready for volume production. You will work with the field teams to support systems that are deployed in the data center.
US: $132000 - $190000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

- Gather system requirements, define architecture, execute hardware design, and product validation.
- Lead the bring up, validation, New Product Introduction (NPI), deployment, and sustaining of hardware solutions.
- Work cross-functionally with Hardware, Software, Mechanical, Thermal, Validation, Manufacturing, and external vendors.
- Drive system development from concept through production.
- Lead debug and root cause analysis of deployed systems.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience working in a hardware design technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Experience in Peripheral Component Interconnect Expres (PCIe), Double Data Rate (DDR), Ethernet, USB, Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), etc.
- Experience in electronics principles, circuit design, PCB design, and layout.
