Head of Design
Description
STINE GOYA is looking for an experienced and highly creative Head of Design to lead our design team and oversee the design process across ready-to-wear, accessories and special projects. Combining a strong creative vision with hands-on design expertise and excellent leadership skills, you will translate the direction of our Creative Director, Stine Goya, into distinctive, cohesive collections.
Reporting to Stine Goya as Creative Director, you will have line management responsibility for the design team. Working closely with the development and production team, you will guide collections from initial research and concepts through to sampling and final design decisions. Alongside your own design work, you will support the team’s development and keep priorities, responsibilities and timelines clear.
Main responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Creative Director on seasonal direction, developing concepts, mood boards and colour palettes that bring newness while staying true to the STINE GOYA aesthetic.
- Lead and inspire the design team - a print design manager, junior textile / graphic designer and interns - setting clear expectations, allocating work and providing regular feedback and guidance.
- Design and oversee cohesive collections across ready-to-wear and accessories, developing silhouettes, fabrics, colours, trims and details with attention to both creative ambition and wearability.
- Work closely with the team to integrate print, jacquard and embroidery into the overall collection, aligning creative direction and priorities while supporting their ownership of artwork and technical print development, graphic work and presentation materials in line with collection needs.
- Oversee design development, fittings and sampling with the development and production team, ensuring that proportions, fit, construction, materials and finish reflect the design intent and quality standards.
- Lead planning across the design team in line with the collection calendar, coordinating milestones with the design team and other teams, resolving competing priorities and addressing potential delays early.
- Lead the design of capsule collections and special projects, present collections and support PR and marketing with collection information, photoshoots and runway shows.
The ideal candidate
- A degree in fashion design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Substantial experience in contemporary womenswear design, with a portfolio demonstrating a strong creative point of view and cohesive collections developed into finished products.
- Experience leading a design team, with the ability to motivate people, delegate effectively, give constructive feedback and develop individual strengths.
- Understanding of the STINE GOYA aesthetic and a confident eye for colour, silhouette, proportion and the relationship between print and garment design.
- Solid technical knowledge of fabrics, garment construction and fit, with the ability to guide sampling and find creative solutions to design and development challenges.
- Excellent sketching and illustration skills, combined with proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and ProCreate.
- A structured and collaborative approach, with the ability to overview the collection structure and SKU’s according to plans and make clear decisions when priorities compete.
- A proactive, flexible approach, an interest in responsible design practices and the ability to maintain creative quality while supporting the team in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English.
