Head of Retail Risk - Egypt
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Retail Risk Head to lead and oversee all aspects of retail credit risk management. This role is responsible for developing risk strategies, ensuring portfolio quality, and driving sustainable growth while maintaining strong governance and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping retail risk frameworks, policies, and controls across the organization.
- Develop and implement retail credit risk strategies aligned with business objectives and risk appetite
- Oversee portfolio performance, monitoring key metrics such as delinquencies, impairments, and risk-adjusted returns
- Lead policy development, underwriting standards, and risk frameworks across retail products
- Collaborate with business, analytics, and collections teams to optimize acquisition and portfolio management strategies
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards
- 12+ years of experience in retail credit risk, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong expertise in risk strategy, underwriting, portfolio management, and analytics
- Proven track record of managing large retail portfolios (cards, loans, or similar products)
- Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and risk governance within banking/financial services
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills
- Significant Contribution within P&L due to following.
- Any deterioration or save in Risk Charges will have direct affect on the bottom line.
- As Owner of policy formulation, have a huge stake in book building and revenue generation.
- In efficient productivity management at CIC, CCRD and fraud units will have direct impact on cost and therefore P&L.
- Critical role in service delivery, as low approval Rates, turnaround times and unprofessional collection follow up may have adverse affect on the brand/franchise.
- Responsible for Audit & Controls within Risk units of all IBG markets.
- Compliance to credit related guidelines issued by different Central Banks to avoid any penalties.
- 6-8 years of experience as Head of Credit Cycle, covering all products.
- 12-15 years of credit experience.
- International exposure of working across geographies.
- Balanced thought process based on risk & reward equation.
