Health Psychologist

The Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a clinical psychologist or clinical health psychologist with a strong commitment to clinical service, education, and research in alignment with Mayo Clinic’s integrated mission of practice, education, and research.

The successful candidate will provide evidence-based psychological interventions for patients with complex medical and behavioral health conditions across a variety of clinical settings. The psychologist will work within multidisciplinary teams and participate in integrated behavioral health and specialty medical programs, with opportunities for trainee education, research, quality improvement, and program development. Cross coverage for specialty medical programs as needed is required.

The candidate’s practice will include clinical responsibilities within Mayo Clinic Florida’s Transgender & Intersex Specialty Care Clinic (TISCC), an interdisciplinary program involving specialists in Endocrinology, Plastic Surgery, Behavioral Health, and other medical and surgical specialties. Within TISCC, the psychologist will serve as Clinical Director in partnership with the Medical Director to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care for transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex patients. The psychologist will collaborate with medical, surgical, nursing, and allied health colleagues and contribute behavioral health expertise to educational initiatives, quality improvement, and ongoing development of clinical services.

Candidates should hold a doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) from a Psychology graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and have completed an APA/CPA-accredited internship. Postdoctoral training and eligibility for licensure in the state of Florida are required.

The successful candidate will either have or obtain board certification in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Health Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) within three years of appointment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong skills in evidence-based psychotherapies for mood, anxiety, behavioral, and adjustment concerns.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary, team-based health care settings.
  • Supervised clinical training or clinical experience with transgender and gender-diverse individuals, specifically with gender transition goals.
  • Familiarity with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care.
  • Training or experience completing readiness evaluations and letters of support for gender-affirming medical and surgical interventions.
  • An interest in education, research, quality improvement, and program development within an academic medical center.
