Description

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, people-focused HR Generalist to coordinate our core HR operations and serve as a trusted advisor to our 100-person team. In this mid-level generalist role, you will play a key part in championing our company culture by working to address the needs and concerns of our employees, leading talent management initiatives, facilitating employee training, and ensuring smooth, hassle-free benefits enrollment.

Note: Payroll execution and benefits plan selection are outside this role's scope (we have dedicated payroll support and work directly with an external benefits broker). Your primary focus will be supporting our people, helping managers lead effectively, and driving employee growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Talent Management & Manager Advisory: Partner directly with team leaders on performance management, talent reviews, including annual performance appraisals, retention strategies, career pathways, and sensitive employee relations matters.

  • Training & Development: Identify organizational learning needs and help managers implement effective professional development plans for their team members.

  • Benefits Administration & Service: Oversee day-to-day benefits enrollment, assist new hires through enrollment workflows, manage annual open enrollment logistics, and serve as the main point of contact for our external benefits broker.

  • Employee Experience & Onboarding: Own the full employee lifecycle from seamless onboarding to offboarding, maintaining accurate HR records and ensuring labor law compliance.

  • Device Management: Track and maintain the company owned devices (iPads, iPhones, computers, laptops and chromebooks).

  • Culture & Operations: Serve as an accessible, empathetic HR reference point for all staff, keeping our culture strong, supportive, and communicative.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a mid-level generalist role within a small-to-midsize company (50–200 employees).

  • Location & Work Setup: Based in Maryland with the ability to work a hybrid schedule (combining in-office collaboration and flexible remote work days).

  • Travel: Willingness for occasional travel (less than 5%).

  • Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of talent management, performance frameworks, and employee training implementation.

  • Benefits Familiarity: Hands-on experience servicing employee benefits enrollment and collaborating with third-party brokers.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication skills with a track record of building trust across teams and advising managers with empathy and confidentiality.
