Position Overview
The Human Resources Generalist supports accurate, compliant, and service-driven HR operations for an onsite, mid-level team in Roscoe, IL. This full-time role exists to keep core people processes running smoothly while providing dependable support to employees and leaders.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate talent acquisition activities including requisitions, application processing, interview scheduling, offer coordination, job description review/creation, and background screening
- Own onboarding administration by managing checklists and delivering new-hire orientations
- Serve as bi-weekly payroll backup by validating timecards, researching discrepancies (system errors, earnings, deductions, time off), and ensuring approvals meet deadlines
- Administer benefits and related programs (health, long-term disability, life, COBRA, FMLA, ACA) and assist with document delivery/collection
- Maintain employee records (paper, electronic, HRIS), prepare reports and business correspondence, and support audits
- Assist with offboarding/termination tasks, unemployment and disability claims, performance documentation, safety programs, accident investigations, OSHA requirements, and labor poster compliance; travel to other locations may be required
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Business or Human Resources (Bachelor’s preferred); SHRM or CP Certification a plus
- 2 years of Human Resources experience
- Skills: Customer Service, Written Communication, Interpersonal Skills, Professionalism, Planning/Organization, Problem Solving, Adaptability, Confidentiality; superior organizational skills; working knowledge of HR and Payroll laws and regulations; excellent verbal and written communication; ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, follow instructions, work independently and on teams, interact across all levels, maintain acute attention to detail, maintain confidentiality and build trust with leadership, maintain professional behavior, and plan/organize projects; bilingual skills a plus

A Typical Workday
Your day balances planned priorities with timely employee support. You may start by checking the onboarding tracker and confirming orientation schedules, then shift to coordinating interviews and preparing offer details. Midday often includes benefits follow-ups—answering enrollment questions, tracking leave documentation, or organizing COBRA/FMLA/ACA paperwork—alongside HRIS updates and file maintenance.
As deadlines approach, you’ll review timecard approvals, investigate payroll variances, and document resolutions so the bi-weekly cycle stays on track. You’ll also carve out focused time for reports, audits, and policy-related documentation requests. Some days include coordinating culture-team items or supporting safety documentation and incident follow-up. When needed, you’ll communicate with other locations and plan travel to keep processes consistent.
