CRST has an exciting opportunity for you to join our Early Talent Program within our summer internship program as a Human Resources Intern on our Human Resources team. The Human Resources Intern supports human resources activities through project work, employee support, and professional development opportunities. This role gains hands-on experience in HR programs, employee processes, compliance activities, talent initiatives, and business operations while developing professional skills and business knowledge. The HR Intern contributes to team objectives while preparing for future career opportunities.
Here is what you can expect:
- HR Support: Assist with day-to-day HR activities, documentation, reporting, and administrative tasks
- Employee Experience: Support employee programs, engagement initiatives, events, and communication efforts
- Talent Support: Assist with recruiting, onboarding, internship programs, and talent-related initiatives
- HR Projects: Participate in projects involving HR operations, compliance, compensation, engagement, training, or organizational development
- Data Review: Collect, organize, review, and maintain HR-related information and records
- Reporting: Assist with preparing reports, presentations, dashboards, and supporting documentation
- Process Improvement: Help identify opportunities to improve HR processes, communication, or employee experiences
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with HR team members and business partners to support organization objectives
- Professional Development: Participate in learning opportunities, mentorship activities, and business meetings to develop HR and business knowledge
- Adaptability: Learn new systems, processes, and HR disciplines while supporting assigned work
- Senior Leadership Exposure: Learn from our Senior Leaders from day 1 and present your project and experience to them at the end of the summer!
- Accountability and Reliability: Maintain regular and reliable attendance while performing other duties as assigned to support team and business needs
The Summer Internship Program is where students are exposed to the transportation industry, engaged in real-world problem-solving, and immersed in social and educational opportunities with other interns and leaders across the organization. You will have the opportunity to work hand in hand with different business entities to accomplish company objectives and goals.
Here is what we are looking for:
- Education: Currently pursuing a degree in human resources, business, psychology, communications, organizational leadership, or a related field
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple assignments and maintain attention to detail
- Professionalism: Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
- Learning Agility: Ability to learn new systems, processes, and business concepts quickly
Preferred Qualifications:
- HR Interest: Interest in human resources, employee experience, recruiting, compensation, organizational development, or related fields
- Project Experience: Academic, internship, volunteer, or extracurricular experience supporting projects or team initiatives
- Technology: Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Leadership Experience: Participation in student organizations, athletics, volunteer groups, or leadership activities
- Customer Service Experience: Experience working with people in service, support, leadership, or collaborative environments
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Regular use of a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment is required. The position may require the ability to observe surroundings, read documents and screens, distinguish visual signals, and communicate effectively with others in person, by telephone, radio, or other communication devices. The position generally involves prolonged periods of sitting, frequent written and verbal communication, and the ability to move throughout office and operational areas as needed. The position primarily requires indoor work. Occasional travel may be required. The position may also require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

- Applicants must be enrolled in undergraduate courses at least the fall semester following the summer internship.
- Interns who successfully complete the Early Talent Program are considered for full-time positions within CRST upon graduation with additional benefits.
- These internships will be based at our offices in Cedar Rapids, IA.
