What You'll Do

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and versatile HVAC & Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our growing Facilities Department.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in HVAC diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs across commercial and industrial systems. While HVAC will be the primary area of expertise, this position is an integral part of our Facilities Team and requires a willingness and ability to assist with a wide variety of maintenance tasks, repairs, renovations, installations, and facility improvement projects across multiple trades.

This is not an HVAC-only position. The selected candidate must be comfortable working alongside other Facilities Technicians and actively contributing to general maintenance and construction-related projects when HVAC-specific work is not required.

Our Facilities Department supports multiple commercial, retail, warehouse, and cultivation/production facilities across several states. The position requires flexibility, adaptability, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to travel to company locations nationwide to perform HVAC maintenance, repairs, equipment assessments, and other facilities-related projects.

We are looking for a motivated, dependable, and resourceful technician who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving complex problems, and is willing to step outside their primary trade to support the overall success of the Facilities Department.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC Maintenance, Diagnostics & Repairs

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment.
  • Service and repair rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, mini-splits, package units, exhaust systems, ventilation equipment, and other heating and cooling systems.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration-related issues, including compressors, motors, capacitors, contactors, control boards, sensors, and related components.
  • Troubleshoot airflow, temperature control, refrigerant, and system performance issues.
  • Perform refrigerant recovery, charging, leak detection, and related services in accordance with applicable regulations and certifications.
  • Inspect HVAC equipment to identify existing problems, potential failures, and opportunities to improve performance and reliability.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to extend equipment life, reduce downtime, and minimize unnecessary repair costs.
  • Assist with HVAC equipment installations, replacements, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Evaluate equipment conditions and provide recommendations regarding repairs versus replacements.
  • Identify opportunities to complete repairs internally rather than relying on outside contractors when practical and appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, equipment information, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Respond to urgent HVAC failures and equipment-related emergencies as needed.

General Facilities Maintenance & Multi-Trade Support

This position requires active participation in general facilities maintenance and improvement projects, regardless of whether HVAC work is available.

The technician will work alongside the Facilities Team and assist with tasks including, but not limited to:

  • General building maintenance and repairs.
  • Basic plumbing repairs, installations, and troubleshooting.
  • Electrical troubleshooting, fixture replacements, and minor electrical work within the technician's qualifications and applicable regulations.
  • Drywall installation, patching, finishing, and painting.
  • Carpentry, framing, doors, hardware, and general building repairs.
  • Installation, repair, and modification of facility equipment and fixtures.
  • General construction, remodeling, and renovation projects.
  • Warehouse, commercial, retail, and industrial facility improvements.
  • Preventive maintenance on non-HVAC building systems and equipment.
  • Equipment relocation, assembly, installation, and removal.
  • General troubleshooting and repairs involving mechanical systems.
  • Assisting other Facilities Technicians with projects requiring additional manpower or specialized technical support.
  • Other maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks assigned by the Facilities Director.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a team-first mentality and understand that no maintenance task is outside the general scope of the Facilities Department simply because it does not involve HVAC.

Previous experience in additional skilled trades is highly valued.

Nationwide Travel & Multi-Location Support

  • Travel to company-owned or operated facilities throughout Arizona and other states as required.
  • Perform HVAC inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs at regional facilities.
  • Assist with large-scale HVAC restoration projects, equipment replacements, and facility improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance trips and special projects alongside the Facilities Director and other Facilities Team members.
  • Be comfortable traveling for approximately one week at a time, with occasional longer assignments depending on project requirements.
  • Support facilities across different regions, including commercial retail locations, cultivation facilities, warehouses, and production environments.
  • Coordinate with on-site personnel to identify equipment issues and prioritize repairs.
  • Work independently or collaboratively while traveling, depending on project needs.
  • Maintain flexibility regarding travel schedules, project priorities, and occasional emergency assignments.
  • Represent the Facilities Department professionally while working at different company locations.

Willingness and availability to travel outside Arizona is an essential requirement of this position. Travel is an ongoing responsibility and is not limited to occasional training or meetings.

Preventive Maintenance & Documentation

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and other assigned facility equipment.
  • Document completed work, findings, materials used, and recommended follow-up repairs through the company's facilities management software (FMX).
  • Assist with developing and improving preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment conditions, repairs, and replacement parts.
  • Assist with maintaining equipment inventories, tools, and maintenance supplies.
  • Communicate repair status, project progress, and potential equipment failures to the Facilities Director.
  • Help establish consistent maintenance practices across all company locations.

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The Company reserves the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position as business needs require.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in HVAC service, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair, preferably in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC electrical systems, mechanical components, refrigeration cycles, and control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair HVAC equipment with minimal supervision.
  • EPA Section 608 certification appropriate to the equipment being serviced; Universal Certification strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC diagnostic tools, meters, gauges, and service equipment.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and identifying potential equipment failures.
  • General mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform maintenance tasks outside the HVAC trade.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, troubleshoot problems, and make sound technical decisions.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for work.
  • Willingness to travel to company facilities throughout the United States.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency situations when operational needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience servicing large commercial rooftop HVAC units and industrial climate-control equipment.
  • Experience with HVAC systems in cultivation, greenhouse, manufacturing, or other temperature- and humidity-sensitive environments.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems, HVAC controls, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Experience with refrigeration systems, compressors, and complex electrical troubleshooting.
  • Background in general facilities maintenance, construction, or multiple skilled trades.
  • Experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, or mechanical equipment repairs.
  • Experience supporting multiple commercial or industrial locations.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), such as FMX or similar platforms.
  • Experience coordinating repairs, sourcing replacement parts, and working with outside vendors when necessary.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and assist with heavier equipment using appropriate lifting methods or equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work on rooftops, and access mechanical equipment in various locations.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work in commercial, industrial, warehouse, retail, and cultivation environments.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Ability to follow all applicable workplace safety procedures and equipment manufacturer requirements.
  • Ability to travel by vehicle or commercial airline and work at different facilities as assigned.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced HVAC professional who enjoys more than just HVAC work.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong technical HVAC knowledge and takes pride in diagnosing and solving difficult equipment problems.
  • Is mechanically inclined and enjoys working with their hands across different trades.
  • Understands the importance of teamwork and is willing to help wherever needed.
  • Is comfortable transitioning from an HVAC repair to a general maintenance or renovation project.
  • Is resourceful, proactive, and focused on finding practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Is dependable, flexible, and willing to travel to support facilities across the country.
  • Can work independently but also collaborates effectively with other technicians.
  • Takes ownership of assigned projects and follows through to completion.
  • Values quality workmanship, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Position Expectations

The HVAC & Facilities Maintenance Technician will serve as the Facilities Department's primary in-house HVAC specialist while also functioning as a fully participating member of the general Facilities Team.

HVAC maintenance and repairs will remain a primary responsibility. However, when HVAC-related work is not scheduled or when other operational priorities require assistance, the technician will be expected to work on general facilities projects and maintenance tasks alongside the rest of the team.

This position is best suited for someone who values variety in their work, enjoys learning and applying different skills, and is excited about supporting facilities and projects across multiple states.

The goal of this position is to strengthen our in-house technical capabilities, reduce unnecessary reliance on outside contractors, improve equipment reliability, and support efficient facilities operations across all company locations.
