The company is launching a new brand focused on data center development and prefabricated product delivery. We are looking for an HVAC Engineer who can independently lead mechanical and cooling system design for data center projects, supporting design development, technical review, tendering, prefabricated product delivery, and overseas project implementation.
This role will serve as the HVAC discipline owner across design and delivery interfaces, working closely with electrical, architecture, structural, product, pre-sales, project delivery, vendors, and external consultants to ensure the cooling system is reliable, energy-efficient, maintainable, and aligned with international data center standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently lead HVAC and cooling system design for data center projects, including concept design, schematic design, design development, technical coordination, and design review.
- Develop and review cooling system architecture covering chilled water systems, air-cooled or water-cooled solutions, CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat rejection, ventilation, pressurization, and controls interfaces.
- Prepare and review HVAC drawings, load calculations, psychrometric analysis, equipment schedules, technical specifications, design narratives, and sequence of operations.
- Support prefabricated data center product design by translating project requirements into standardized cooling modules, piping interfaces, factory testing requirements, and installation-ready deliverables.
- Coordinate with electrical, structural, architectural, fire services, BMS/DCIM, and ICT disciplines to resolve cross-discipline interfaces, space planning, maintainability, and constructability issues.
- Provide technical support for pre-sales and tendering, including technical proposals, tender clarifications, customer meetings, value engineering, energy efficiency analysis, and technical risk assessments.
- Review vendor submissions, equipment selections, factory acceptance test requirements, control logic, and technical deviations to ensure compliance with project specifications and data center reliability requirements.
- Support project delivery teams during construction, commissioning, integrated systems testing, issue resolution, and handover, ensuring design intent is maintained through implementation.
- Track international data center HVAC standards, cooling technology trends, energy efficiency requirements, and regulatory requirements across target overseas markets.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or above in HVAC or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of HVAC or mechanical design experience, with hands-on experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial facilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proven ability to independently lead HVAC discipline design for data center or mission-critical projects, from early-stage design through detailed design and delivery support.
- Strong knowledge of data center cooling systems, including chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, airflow management, redundancy architecture, and reliability design.
- Able to perform cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, airflow and pressure analysis, system schematics, technical specification writing, and design review independently.
- Familiar with international HVAC codes and data center standards, such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, SMACNA, TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tier Standard, or equivalent frameworks.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; experience with Revit, BIM coordination, CFD analysis, HAP, IESVE, or other HVAC design and simulation tools is preferred.
- Strong communication, coordination, technical judgement, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal cross-functional teams.
- Working English capability is required, including the ability to read technical documents and participate in technical discussions; stronger spoken and written English is preferred for overseas projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in data center design, modular data centers, prefabricated cooling modules, cooling skids, containerized solutions, or overseas data center projects.
- Experience working with international consultants, EPC contractors, equipment vendors, or customers in Southeast Asia or other overseas markets.
- Professional qualifications such as Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer, CEng, RPE, CDCP/CDCS, or equivalent certifications are an advantage.
- Experience supporting pre-sales, tendering, technical proposal review, factory acceptance testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, or value engineering for data center projects is preferred.
