IBM i Senior Programmer Analyst

Maintain and enhance legacy IBM i (AS400) systems using RPG IV/LE, CLP, SQL, and DB2 for i; troubleshoot production issues and lead small projects while mentoring junior developers.

- Participate in the evolution and maintenance of existing systems;
- Plan and carry out activities related to the realization of projects;
- Produce development project artifacts;
- Produce evaluations of analysis and development efforts;
- Write and update functional and technical specifications;
- Write unit and integrated test specifications;
- Develop and implement enhancements and projects;
- Ensure effective user support;
- Support and advise less experienced developers;
- Apply best practices in software development;
- Be available for remote support outside of normal working hours on a rotating basis with other team members;
- Write and update documentation related to ISO standards;
- Inform the project manager about potential risks;
- DEC or Bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer systems, information or a related field;
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on programming experience on IBM iSeries, AS400, RPG IV, RPGLE, RPG/II, CLP, SQL, Database : DB2 for i;
- Experience with XML, HTML and JavaScript would be beneficial;
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills;
- Leadership and negotiation skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively at all hierarchical levels ;
- Ability to make complex information accessible;
- Responsible and autonomous in carrying out mandates;
- Ability to work in both French and English (spoken and written). The job requires proficiency in English at a professional level. The candidate will interact on a weekly basis either with R2i (2) offices in Ontario or with various English-speaking customers or business partners.;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite;
- Knowledge of: ERP Maestro (an asset)
- Knowledge of Web services (SOAP, REST), RDi, EDI (an asset)
- Knowledge of Cobol (an asset)
