Salary: $145 per hour

Senior Infrastructure Architect, Building Redevelopment and Capital Works

Collada has been engaged by a large government organisation with several major building redevelopment and capital works programmes running at the same time across the country. They need an additional senior infrastructure solution architect to sit across them. The work is the digital infrastructure inside new and redeveloped buildings, network, telecommunications, structured cabling and fibre, comms rooms, wireless, segmentation and the building technology systems that hang off it, from developed design through to commissioning and handover.

This is not an operational IT role and it is not a cloud role. Day to day it is design governance, reviewing and assuring consultant and vendor designs, responding to RFIs, working through room data sheets and equipment schedules, and getting decisions made so the programmes keep moving. You will be one of several architects in a reasonably large infrastructure practice, working alongside programme managers, design consultants and contractors.

You can be based anywhere in New Zealand. It is primarily remote, with travel to site when a design review, commissioning or handover needs you there. It is an initial 12 month contract with a multi-year pipeline behind it, and we expect more architecture work to follow from the same programmes.

The filter is the construction piece. You need to have delivered ICT infrastructure inside a large construction, redevelopment or capital works programme, which means developed and detailed design, design consultants and contractors, BIM models and room data sheets, and commissioning and handover on a live site. Unfortunately, if you don't have that, we are unlikely to be able to engage with you on this occasion, no matter how strong the rest of your infrastructure background is. It is the part the client can't compromise on. An airport, port, convention centre, campus or utility-scale build all count.

Role: Senior Infrastructure Solution Architect (Capital Works)

Location: Anywhere in New Zealand, remote with travel to site as required

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract Length: Initial 12 months, multi-year programme behind it

Rate: $145ph + GST

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has delivered ICT infrastructure inside a large construction, redevelopment or capital works programme, and can talk about it in detail

  • Is comfortable with developed and detailed design, BIM models, room data sheets and equipment schedules

  • Has breadth across LAN, WAN and wireless, structured cabling and fibre, comms rooms and data centre facilities, network security and segmentation, and carrier services

  • Can sit in a room with a head contractor, a design consultant and an operational lead and get to a decision

  • Ideally has worked in critical infrastructure or another complex facilities environment

Collada is a boutique architecture partner. We exist to support leaders in uplifting and delivering architecture capability, typically in highly transformational contexts, and we run The Architecture Collective, the architecture community here in New Zealand. Architects working with us are engaged as Collada associates, engaged by us and working on the client's site as part of our associate network, and we stay involved through the engagement rather than handing over and disappearing. We only work with architects we know, have worked alongside, or who come to us through people we trust, which is what lets us match the right architect to the work rather than whoever is on the bench.
