Senior Solutions Architect
Salary: $130,000 – $160,000 per year
About the Role
X4 Consulting is looking for an experienced Consulting Solutions Architect to join our team, working with clients to design and deliver solutions that join up cloud, AI, integration, governance, and business outcomes.
This role comes with a genuine, immediate pipeline of chargeable work from day one, alongside the opportunity to grow into a broader consulting and client-development role as you build relationships within our network.
What You'll Do
Work with clients to design and deliver solutions spanning cloud platforms, AI/automation, integration, and governance - always anchored to business outcomes, not technology for its own sake
Support clients through SaaS transformation initiatives, bringing architectural rigour to platform migration and modernisation decisions
Bring enterprise architecture awareness to solution-level work - understanding how individual solutions fit the broader architectural and governance landscape of a client organisation
Contribute to proposals, scoping, and client conversations as your consulting experience develops
Over time, build your own client relationships and network - with active support and mentoring from X4 leadership, as part of a genuine growth path toward a more senior role
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Solid experience as a Solutions Architect or Senior Solutions Architect, ideally within a consultancy, you understand utilisation, scoping, and how consulting engagements run commercially
Demonstrated ability to design solutions that bring together cloud, integration, and governance considerations in service of a clear business outcome
SaaS transformation experience. You have been part of moving an organisation from legacy/custom platforms to SaaS, or advising on that journey
Working awareness of enterprise architecture and able to place a solution in the context of a wider architecture landscape and engage credibly with EA frameworks and stakeholders, even if EA isn't your primary discipline
Comfortable working directly with clients, not just internal technical stakeholders
New Zealand public sector experience or a genuine interest in working in that space
Highly regarded:
Practical exposure to AI/automation as part of a solution architecture (not required to be an AI specialist, but comfortable assessing where it fits)
Existing network or relationships within the Wellington public sector / government technology community
Demonstrated interest in the commercial and client-relationship side of consulting, beyond pure technical delivery. You ask good questions about the business, not just the solution
Experience contributing to or leading proposals, tenders, or panel responses

Remuneration
Base salary $130,000–$160,000 NZD, depending on experience
Performance bonus, typically 10% on-target, assessed against a delivery and sales-weighted KPI framework
