Infrastructure Engineer → DevOps (eDV) – Cheltenham

Location: Cheltenham
Working pattern: Predominantly on-site / high-side
Level: Mid-level through to Senior
Clearance: Active eDV / green badge required

If you’re coming from an Infrastructure or SysAdmin background and DevOps has gradually become more and more of your job, this one should feel familiar.

You might already be working with Linux, automation, cloud and Infrastructure as Code, but still find that too much of your day is spent on BAU support.

This role is about making the move properly.

I’m supporting a growing secure engineering team in Cheltenham looking for people with strong infrastructure fundamentals who want to move further into Cloud, DevOps and Platform Engineering.

What you’ll be working with

  • Linux
  • AWS / Azure
  • Terraform
  • Ansible / Puppet
  • Bash / Python
  • CI/CD
  • Docker / Kubernetes
  • Monitoring and observability
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • Secure cloud and infrastructure environments

You don’t need to already have the perfect “DevOps Engineer” title.

What matters is that you’re technically solid, already comfortable working high-side, and have started moving towards automation and modern cloud engineering.

Why it’s worth a look

  • Genuine route from Infrastructure into DevOps
  • More automation, less repetitive BAU
  • Strong exposure to Cloud and Platform Engineering
  • Smaller, collaborative technical teams
  • Clear progression as your capability grows
  • Secure engineering work where breadth is genuinely valued

This isn’t a remote‑first role. You’ll need to be comfortable working on‑site in Cheltenham in secure environments.

You’ll also need to already hold an active eDV / green badge.

If you’re ready to move from traditional Infrastructure into a more modern DevOps remit, this is well worth a conversation.
