Inspector
Hill International is seeking an Inspector in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This position is open to collect resumes in anticipation of upcoming work.
- Inspect each stage of construction through completion.
- Interpret plans, specifications, and codes and verify contract work complies with all applicable governing codes and regulations.
- Monitor construction sites for safety violations.
- Prepare Non-Conformance Reports when work is not performed to the approved standards.
- Maintain daily activity logs and reports with photographs, as agreed upon prior to the work.
- Review or prepare interim progress reports for contractor payments.
- Monitor contractor-testing activities.
- Prepare reports on labor, material, and equipment on-site.
- Determine if construction conforms to plans and specifications.
- Conduct quality surveillance of specific quality-related activities as necessary.
- Assist in maintaining, supporting, and promoting a safe work environment while complying with safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Provide Construction Safety and Security field services, as directed, including Site Safety and Security Reviews for construction equipment, personnel, work procedures, and traffic control.
- Coordinate preparation of inspection survey reports, cost estimates, and maintenance records.
- Ensure timely submittals of these reports and records.
- Arrange, coordinate, and oversee technical inspections such as electrical, landscaping, soil testing, concrete, and asphalt mixes, and reinforcing steel for conformance to specification requirements.
- Coordinate test laboratory activities with on-site Quality Management team as well as Contractor’s Quality Control team.
- Minimum of 5 years of project experience in transit or rail construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, standards, equipment, quality, and safety per state and federal requirements.
- Strong computer skills with competency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel, Word and SharePoint.
- Experience using mobile devices, such as iPads, for reporting preferred.
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications, special provisions, and other contract documents.
- Ability to independently identify potential problems and propose solutions.
- Sufficient written and oral communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
