Our financial services client is seeking a Intermediate Backend Developer (10+ years) to build Camunda-based workflow orchestration and backend integration services using Java, Spring Boot, BPMN, and Azure/AKS- 17135
Join a team supporting a unified digital experience focused on electronic application tracking and document workflows within the insurance and banking domain. This role contributes to the orchestration layer powering eTrack and eDocs capabilities through Camunda workflow implementation, backend integrations, and advisor portal service exposure. The position involves building and testing orchestration flows, integrating with backend systems, and supporting entitlement requirements within an Agile delivery squad.
Location: Toronto or Waterloo - Hybrid 3 days a week (Remote if outside GTA)
Duration: 6 Months (chance of extension)
Must Have Skills:
- Camunda workflow/process orchestration (BPMN modelling and implementation) — Camunda 8 / Zeebe preferred
- RESTful API / microservices backend development in Java / Spring Boot (Maven-based, deployed to Azure/AKS)
- Systems integration — building and integrating orchestration flows with backend source systems via APIs and messaging/queue patterns (JMS/ActiveMQ)
- Agile delivery with Git-based CI/CD workflows (GitHub, PR-based workflow)
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Integration with document management systems (Alfresco or comparable ECM — OnBase, Documentum, OpenText)
- MuleSoft or comparable API gateway experience or Salesforce data integration exposure
- Financial services / banking domain experience
Responsibilities
- Build the orchestration and workflow layer supporting electronic tracking and electronic documents
- Implement Camunda-based workflow and BPMN orchestration logic
- Expose backend services that surface application status to the advisor portal
- Build and test orchestration flows across application lifecycle stages
- Integrate orchestration services with backend source systems using APIs and messaging patterns
- Support entitlement and access requirements within the orchestration layer
- Contribute within an Agile squad under senior technical direction
