Intermediate Java Developer (all genders)

Summary

Build and maintain Java-based backend systems for Hubject’s eMobility eRoaming platform, using Spring Boot, AWS, and microservices to power global charging services.

In the role of Java Developer, (all genders) at Hubject, you will design, develop, and maintain software solutions that power Hubject's eRoaming platform and charging services for our international clients, contributing hands-on to the architecture and delivery of scalable, high-performance backend systems, while also ensuring their ongoing operational stability through ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and support.

Please note that due to planning reasons, this role is currently limited to a 2-year-contract.

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable Java-based applications and microservices for the global automotive and eMobility sector.
  • Write clean, secure, well-tested, and maintainable code following software engineering best practices and design patterns.
  • Take full ownership of features and components, driving their implementation independently from development through delivery.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture decisions to ensure high-quality, scalable solutions.
  • Ensure the reliability, performance, and timely delivery of global systems while continuously improving existing applications through monitoring, optimization, updates, security patches, and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Support operational excellence through proactive monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis to maintain platform stability.
  • Contribute to the team's success with an entrepreneurial mindset, flexibility in solving technical challenges, and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences.
  • You have at least 4+ years of professional experience in Java development, with a strong track record of building and maintaining complex, scalable software systems.
  • Solid knowledge of Java, Spring/Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, relational databases, and microservice architectures, along with experience in cloud-native development on AWS (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS).
  • Experience with automated testing and modern DevOps practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing (e.g., JUnit, Mockito) as well as CI/CD pipelines.
  • Good understanding of secure coding practices and application security principles, including OWASP, authentication/authorization, and data protection.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional, matrix organizations and partner closely with product and business stakeholders.
  • A goal-oriented, structured, and detail-focused mindset, with a strong sense of ownership and a passion for teamwork.
  • Openness to international collaboration, new technologies, and eMobility, with knowledge of protocols such as OCPI, OCPP, or OICP considered a strong plus.
Company language is English (fluent skills required) as soon as possible

Onsite in Berlin
Hybrid system:

  • 2 days per week at the office, 3 days remote
