Internship - Software Engineering - On-Demand Agent Provisioning in Cellular Test
Summary
An Apple internship in Munich with the Wireless Technologies & Ecosystems team, applying AI/ML techniques (LLMs, agentic frameworks, RAG pipelines) to cellular/modem test automation, log analysis, and defect triage. Core work is Python-based prototyping at the intersection of cellular software testing and applied AI.
At Wireless Technologies & Ecosystems (WTE) team, we are looking for a motivated and curious intern to join our team working at the intersection of cellular software test engineering and applied AI/ML automation. The intern will work alongside engineers to explore, prototype, and apply the latest AI/ML tools and techniques to solve real problems in modem/cellular test automation, log analysis, and defect triage. The ideal candidate is not just familiar with AI/ML concepts from coursework but has hands-on experience building and experimenting with current-generation tools - LLM APIs, agentic frameworks, RAG pipelines, and NLP libraries - and is eager to bring that curiosity to a fast-evolving, high-impact engineering domain.
If you are a student who lives at the cutting edge of AI/ML - always experimenting with the newest models, frameworks, and techniques - and want to apply that curiosity to solve real, high-impact problems in cellular software testing, this internship offers a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of two fast-moving fields. You'll gain hands-on experience with production test systems while helping shape how AI/ML transforms the way we test and validate next-generation connectivity products.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Master’s / PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Python, including scripting, OOP fundamentals, and clean coding practices
- Hands-on project experience (academic, personal, hackathon, or research) applying LLMs, NLP, or generative AI - not just theoretical coursework knowledge
- Good experience with prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, knowledge graphs or fine-tuning concepts
- Practical exposure to at least one agentic framework or tool-orchestration pattern (LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, MCP, or similar), through projects or self-study.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of C/C++/Objective C/SwiftUI or a comparable programming language
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving fundamentals
- Exposure to REST APIs and SQL/NoSQL databases
- Interest in or coursework exposure to communication technologies (LTE, 5G NR) or modem/embedded systems would be an added advantage
- Experience with Git and collaborative version control workflows
- Good analytical and debugging skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Genuine curiosity about staying current with the latest AI/ML tools, models, and research, and translating that into applied engineering solutions.
