IT Department Lead

You will lead the internal IT function across platform engineering, infrastructure security, identity and access management, and FinOps. You will define and execute infrastructure strategy with the CIO, manage and develop staff, coordinate internal technology initiatives, and serve as the main contact for internal IT matters. You will improve operating practices, oversee security and compliance controls, support hiring, communicate with senior stakeholders, and conduct monthly performance reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the Internal IT Department across Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Security, IAM, and FinOps
  • Drive company-wide and team-level infrastructure initiatives and co-define strategy and roadmaps with the CIO
  • Manage department staffing, career guidance, performance reviews, and technical standards
  • Communicate with C-level executives and group leads to strengthen cross-functional relationships and eliminate DevOps silos
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal IT matters and coordinate with the CIO on initiatives and resource allocation
  • Adapt AI technology to engineering and non-engineering work routines
  • Communicate with external clients when required and align on infrastructure needs
  • Identify and implement organisational improvements and optimisations
  • Support hiring through sourcing, interviewing, and candidate evaluation
  • Conduct monthly performance reviews using Rippling and provide structured feedback

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading and scaling IT, infrastructure, or platform engineering teams, including 5+ years in a management role
  • Strong background in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and DevOps/SRE practices
  • Ability to co-define and execute technical roadmaps
  • Hands-on understanding of infrastructure security, IAM, and FinOps
  • Experience translating compliance and audit requirements, such as SOC2 or ISO 27001, into operational controls
  • Ability to own or govern internal AI tooling and agentic workflows with a security-first mindset
  • People management skills including hiring, mentoring, career development, and performance management
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics to C-level stakeholders and non-technical audiences
  • Practical experience with security incident response and threat modelling
  • Ability to operate in a fully remote, async-first, globally distributed environment
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
