IT Engineer
Summary
Senior hands-on IT engineer managing infrastructure and daily IT operations for internal systems and clients: physical servers, virtualization, switching/VLANs, Active Directory, firewalls/VPN, Microsoft 365, endpoint security, and backup/disaster recovery, plus API integrations with SCADA and metering platforms.
We are looking for an experienced IT Engineer to take on a senior, hands-on role in managing our IT infrastructure and daily IT operations for internals and clients.
Job Responsibilities:
Plan, deploy, and maintain core IT systems to support operational growth and business requirements.
Monitor system health and capacity while keeping all platforms patched, securely configured, and fully supported.
Maintain accurate system and network architecture documentation for operational clarity and compliance.
Manage physical server infrastructure spanning installation, firmware, driver maintenance, and lifecycle tracking.
Operate virtualisation environments by handling virtual machine provisioning, resource allocation, and snapshot management.
Design and maintain corporate network switches, VLANs, routing, and wireless coverage to ensure optimal connectivity.
Administer Active Directory user accounts, group policies, DNS, perimeter firewalls, and secure VPN connections while enforcing least-privilege access.
Deploy endpoint protection across company devices while enforcing multi-factor authentication, data loss prevention, and access control policies.
Oversee scheduled backups, defined recovery points, quarterly recovery testing, and vendor escalations for disaster recovery.
Administer Microsoft 365 cloud platforms, coordinate API data integrations with operational systems like SCADA or metering platforms, and oversee internal software maintenance.
Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
Hold at least one of the IT certifications (CompTIA Network+, Server+, Cloud+, Security+, CCNA or a Microsoft certification)
Preferable 4-6 years of IT experience including hands-on experience in a senior technical role managing servers, networks, IT security, backups and cloud platforms.
Able to supervise development work.
Experience managing IT projects from planning to completion is an added advantage.
