IT Manager - Western Sydney - 165-175K + Super

Our client is a Australian business with a household name and its own production and warehousing operation. They've grown to the point where IT needs a proper leader to take ownership of modernizing and automating their technology.

The opportunity
You'll own IT end to end: strategy, delivery, vendors and a small internal team. You'll report to the CFO so you'll have direct access to decision makers and no layers in the way.
It's hands-on IT Manager, who will be acting as the escalation point as well as setting the roadmap for the business.

What you'll be doing
  • Leading and developing a small team across infrastructure, software and support
  • Bringing infrastructure and network management in-house and reducing reliance on external providers
  • Building an IT roadmap and getting a sizeable project backlog moving
  • Improving a complex legacy environment
  • Supporting key business initiatives through technology automation
  • Managing specialist vendors on a needs basis and knowing when to call them in
  • Documenting systems and knowledge so the business isn't reliant on individuals
What you'll bring
  • Hands-on infrastructure depth: Windows Server, VMware, firewalls, switching, wireless and endpoint management
  • Experience leading IT in a lean SME or mid-market environment
  • Experience managing, transitioning or procuring MSPs and vendors
  • Commercial thinking: you bring solutions with a cost and a benefit attached
  • Good judgement under pressure, and the ability to tell a real business problem from noise
  • A practical, outcome-focused attitude
Bonus points
  • Manufacturing, warehousing or distribution background
  • Experience integrating inventory, sales and finance systems
Why this role
  • A brand-new position with a clear mandate and executive backing
  • Broad scope across infrastructure, applications, data, vendors and people
  • A leader who will invest in your development
