IT Solutions Architect (Java)

Summary

Design and modernize enterprise-scale Java platforms for a regulated environment, leading architecture and collaborating with distributed teams across Europe and the UK.

We are looking for an experienced IT Solutions Architect to join a major enterprise transformation programme within a highly regulated environment. This is a hands‑on role combining solution architecture, software engineering expertise, and technical leadership.

Working closely with the core product team in Dresden, business stakeholders, and distributed delivery teams across Europe and the UK, you will be responsible for designing, evolving, and modernising enterprise‑scale platforms while ensuring high standards of performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive solution architecture for enterprise applications
  • Lead technical design activities and support implementation across distributed teams
  • Contribute to the modernisation and evolution of complex legacy systems
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure and high‑performing
  • Collaborate closely with developers, architects, QA, DevOps and business stakeholders
  • Support delivery throughout the full software development lifecycle
  • Promote engineering best practice and architectural standards across teams

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for a technology leader with 10+ years' experience in enterprise software development and solution architecture.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong Java background, including Java 11/17 and Java EE / Jakarta EE, together with proven experience designing and delivering enterprise‑scale applications. Strong database design and development expertise, particularly with PostgreSQL, is essential, as is hands‑on experience with Eclipse RCP, SWT and JFace, and WildFly Application Server.

Additional valuable experience includes JPA/Hibernate, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Maven and Azure DevOps. You should have a solid understanding of software architecture, object‑oriented design principles and design patterns, and experience leading the modernisation of legacy systems and supporting long‑term technology roadmaps.

Travel
