IT Specialist
Salary: $85,000 – $105,000 per year
About the role
We're seeking an experienced IT Specialist to manage, maintain, and support our Windows Server infrastructure and business application environments, while also serving as a key point of contact for company computer maintenance and our Microsoft 365 environment. This role combines hands-on server administration, application support, and end-user IT support, ensuring our systems run reliably, securely, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Server & Application Infrastructure
• Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (x86-64) across on-premises and/or cloud infrastructure
• Support and troubleshoot business applications, including deployment, configuration, and performance tuning
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows Server services
• Monitor server health, performance, and capacity; proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact users
• Perform regular patching, updates, and security hardening of Windows Server systems
• Manage backups, disaster recovery processes, and business continuity planning for critical systems
• Administer database servers and support application-to-database connectivity
• Diagnose and resolve incidents involving application servers, presentation/client layers, and server-to-client communication
• Collaborate with development teams on deployment pipelines, environment setup, and release management
Microsoft 365 & Third-Party Vendor Software Administration
• Manage and maintain the company's Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Intune
• Administer user accounts, licensing, security groups, and permissions within M365 and Azure AD (Entra ID)
• Configure and monitor M365 security features, including conditional access, MFA, and data loss prevention policies
• Manage mailbox administration, distribution lists, and shared mailboxes
• Support and troubleshoot Teams, SharePoint site collections, and OneDrive sync issues
• Oversee M365 compliance and backup solutions
• Administer and maintain all other third-party and vendor software used across the business, including user accounts, licensing, permissions, and configuration
• Act as the primary point of contact for vendor support issues, renewals, and upgrades
Company Computer & End-User Support
• Maintain and support company desktops, laptops, and peripherals, including imaging, deployment, and lifecycle management
• Install, update, and troubleshoot software and hardware issues across the organization
• Manage endpoint security, antivirus, and device compliance policies
• Set up new employee equipment and manage offboarding/device retrieval processes
• Provide day-to-day helpdesk support and resolve escalated technical issues
• Maintain IT asset inventory and manage warranty/vendor relationships for hardware
General
• Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
• Provide escalated technical support to end users and junior IT staff
• Evaluate and implement infrastructure improvements, including virtualization and modernization initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
• 3+ years managing Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022) on x86-64 architecture
• Experience administering Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune)
• Experience with IIS (Internet Information Services) configuration and management
• Solid understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, Azure AD/Entra ID, and Windows networking fundamentals
• Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting end-user computers, laptops, and peripherals
• Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and administration
• Familiarity with database servers and basic database administration
• Understanding of client-server and multi-tier application architectures (database server, application server, presentation client)
• Experience with backup/DR tools and patch management systems
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills under pressure
• Excellent customer service skills for direct end-user support
• Comfortable administering a range of third-party vendor platforms beyond Microsoft 365, including account, licensing, and permissions management
Preferred Qualifications
• Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE, Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, or equivalent Azure certifications)
• Experience with legacy platform migrations or modernization of proprietary application platforms
• Familiarity with hybrid or cloud environments
• Experience with endpoint management tools (Microsoft Intune, SCCM)
• Experience supporting proprietary or niche enterprise platforms (e.g., object-oriented development platforms with native database integration)
