IT Support Specialist
Summary
Maintains all company-owned technology — desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and IP phones — while providing help-desk support to staff in person, by phone, and by email. Day-to-day work covers hardware/software installs and repairs, user setup and training, and asset/license management via an asset management system.
Basic Function: The IT specialist is responsible for maintaining all company owned technology including, but not limited to, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and IP phones. This includes hardware and software upgrades as well as repair for all functional departments of the corporation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance for incoming queries and issues related to the IT systems.
- Respond to queries either in person or over the phone or via email.
- Follow up with users to ensure issue has been resolved.
- Ask questions to determine nature of problem and train computer users where necessary.
- Walk users through problem-solving process.
- Install computer peripherals for users.
- Maintain all computers, printers, and other external computer related components.
- Clean up Computers.
- Installation of new hardware.
- Maintain software licensing via the Asset Management System.
- Setting up new users in software systems.
- Maintain an accurate record through the Asset Management System.
- Monitor internet usage through reports provided by the IT Systems & Security Manager.
- Monitor email spam via the spam firewall and report unwanted spam to the Bayesian analyses tool.
- Maintain a set level of IT Inventory via the Asset Management System.
- Submitting purchase requests to upper level of IT.
- Stock and maintain a set level of ink and toner via the Asset Management System.
- Support sales and other departments in forwarding emails.
- Support for satellite and offsite locations.
- Follows safety procedures in accordance with approved training and reports any dangerous conditions to management immediately.
