Java Backend Developer (E-Commerce)

Java Backend Developer on BİM's e-commerce platform team, building and owning scalable backend services end-to-end using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, and AWS.

About the Role
We’re looking for a Java Backend Developer to join our e-commerce platform team. You’ll develop and own backend services end-to-end, collaborate closely with product and engineering, and help build a scalable, reliable system using modern tools and AI-assisted development practices.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to architectural design and develop in line with established technical standards
- Effectively use AI-assisted coding tools as part of daily development workflows
- Develop backend services and features end-to-end and own them in production
- Build inter-service communication and data flows aligned with the existing architecture
- Develop solutions with scalability and performance targets in mind
- Apply security and observability practices throughout development
- Work closely with product and other teams to turn requirements into technical solutions
- Actively participate in code reviews, upholding quality and maintainability standards
- Analyze challenging technical problems and produce effective solutions
- Document development work and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team
Qualifications
- 3-8 years of backend development experience
- Experience with Java and the Spring Boot / Spring Cloud ecosystem
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) as part of daily development workflows
- Experience building event-driven systems with Kafka or similar messaging platforms
- Experience with query optimization and migration management on PostgreSQL (or similar relational databases)
- Experience with caching using Redis
- Experience with container-based deployment using Docker and Kubernetes
- Strong command of code quality, maintainability, test automation, CI/CD, and observability (logging, metrics, tracing)
- Experience with AWS services (EKS, RDS, ElastiCache, MSK, S3)
- Experience working on high-traffic systems (e-commerce, payments, banking, telecom, etc.)
- Experience with Elasticsearch / OpenSearch for search and filtering
