Java Backend Engineer

Summary

Build and maintain Java-based APIs and microservices on Microsoft Azure, focusing on scalable integration patterns, CI/CD, and performance optimization.

We are seeking a Java Backend Engineer (API Development). You will help build a scalable integration fabric that hosts microservice-based integration patterns across the enterprise. You will design APIs, develop cloud-ready services on Microsoft Azure and improve quality through automated testing and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain Java-based APIs and microservices for an enterprise integration platform
  • Apply API-led integration patterns with a focus on reliability, performance and reuse
  • Develop and deploy services on Microsoft Azure with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) preferred
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar tools
  • Collaborate with Front-end engineers and contribute to UI delivery when needed
  • Troubleshoot issues across environments, identify root causes and implement durable fixes
  • Improve performance through caching, query optimization and efficient data-access patterns
  • Partner with engineering and business stakeholders to align technical delivery with priorities

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Back-end development with Java and API-first design
  • Strong background in microservices architecture and distributed integration approaches
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure or a similar cloud platform
  • Experience with containerized deployments, with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) as a plus
  • Ability to design data models and optimized structures for API ecosystems
  • Background in CI/CD practices and tools such as Azure DevOps
  • Hands-on experience in API debugging, performance testing and systematic troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of Front-end frameworks such as React or Vue for occasional contributions

Nice to have

  • Experience with Azure API Management and tools like Postman
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices that integrate security into delivery workflows
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams
