Java Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Java Backend Software Engineer to build and optimize backend services supporting large-scale video streaming platforms for our international partner, just building up their team in Hungary. The role focuses on Java development, event-driven systems, RESTful APIs, AWS-based services, and delivery of scalable solutions for VOD and live streaming environments. Weekly 3 days home office is provided.

Responsibilites:
• Build, maintain and optimize Java services running event-driven processes and RESTful APIs
• Design and implement scalable backend solutions
• Contribute to system and API design discussions
• Develop and maintain automated tests
• Participate in code reviews and engineering best practices
• Identify and address performance, reliability and technical debt issues
• Collaborate with QA, Product and Engineering teams in an agile environment
• Contribute to high-quality production software delivery
• Minimum 4 years experience as Java developer
• Strong Java 11+ development experience
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
• Experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Experience with JAX-RS, Dropwizard, Spring Boot or similar frameworks
• Experience with event-driven systems
• Familiarity with AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, SQS and DynamoDB
• Knowledge of software design patterns
• Experience with automated testing including unit and integration testing
• Experience working in agile development teams
• Scala or functional programming experience
• NoSQL databases
• Terraform or Ansible
• Docker and containerized workloads
• Experience delivering zero-downtime production releases
• Background in streaming, media or broadcast technology
