Java Developer
Summary
Build and evolve the Java/Spring backend of Marfeel's publishing intelligence platform, owning features end-to-end from design to production. Day-to-day involves high-concurrency microservices using Spring WebFlux and R2DBC, Docker/Kubernetes deployments, Jenkins CI/CD, and AI-assisted coding tools like Claude Code.
In this Java Developer role you will help build and evolve the backend powering a publishing intelligence platform used by publishers worldwide. You will own end-to-end backend features, from design to production, delivering high-performance services at scale. You’ll work with modern Java/Spring tech, microservices, and AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate delivery. The role combines hands-on development with technical decision-making in a collaborative, agile environment. You’ll join a mission-driven team focused on enabling editors, SEO, and revenue teams to turn data into action.

- Own backend features end-to-end: design, build, deploy, operate, and fix in production
- Work with modern Java and Spring ecosystems (Spring IoC, MVC, WebFlux, Data, R2DBC) and related tech (Project Reactor, Vert.x, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices)
- Contribute to automated CI/CD with Jenkins and instrument deployments
- Leverage AI coding tools (Claude Code) as a core part of your workflow and build tooling to improve effectiveness
- Participate in agile weekly sprints with emphasis on quality and performance
- Influence technical decisions and collaborate beyond the backend when needed

- Deep knowledge of Java and parallel code execution
- Strong experience with Spring IoC, Spring MVC, Spring WebFlux, Spring Data, and R2DBC
- Solid understanding of web technology stack and building scalable software
- OO principles, design patterns, and clean code practices
- Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases
- Ability to own outcomes and debug effectively under limited process
