Java Developer – Payment Architect

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer - Payment Architect to design, develop, and architect secure, scalable, and high-performance payment solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java-based enterprise applications, payment processing systems, and modern microservices architecture. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to build payment platforms that support high transaction volumes while ensuring compliance, reliability, and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect end-to-end payment processing solutions.
• Develop and maintain Java-based payment applications using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
• Design scalable microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Integrate with payment gateways, banking systems, card networks, and third-party financial services.
• Build secure APIs for payment initiation, authorization, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with PCI DSS, PSD2, ISO 8583, ISO 20022, EMV, and other applicable payment standards.
• Optimize application performance for high-volume, low-latency transaction processing.
• Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, DevOps, QA, and security teams.
• Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and mentor development teams.
• Implement monitoring, logging, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architectural improvements.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in Java (Java 11/17 or later).
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, and Hibernate/JPA.
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and distributed systems.
• Experience with caching technologies such as Redis or Hazelcast.

• Credit and debit card processing
• UPI, ACH, SEPA, SWIFT, and RTP payment systems
• Merchant acquiring and issuing
• Authorization, clearing, and settlement
• Reconciliation and dispute management
• Fraud detection and risk management
• Tokenization and digital wallets
• ISO 8583 and ISO 20022 messaging
• PCI DSS compliance and payment security best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with high-availability and mission-critical financial systems.
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and event sourcing.
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Splunk.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
