Java Developer

Salary: Hourly rates commensurate of experience

The client is seeking a Senior Java Developer for a contract labour-hire opportunity of up to 12 months, with extensions of up to a maximum of 24 months. The role is available in the capital city of selected states across Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. The successful candidate will work onsite for the first six weeks, after which a flexible hybrid arrangement may be considered, subject to business requirements and reasonable travel distance.

As the selected candidate, you will:

• Design, develop, prototype, test, document and maintain software systems and applications.
• Support the design, development and delivery of Java-based solutions within technical environments and systems.
• Develop, test and support Java/J2EE, Angular and integration services in complex enterprise environments.
• Analyse technical requirements and define software and technical designs for complex solutions.
• Develop RESTful application programming interfaces and integrate front-end applications with back-end services.
• Provide go-live support, maintenance and technical assistance to development teams.
• Identify and escalate issues, recommend alternative approaches and facilitate innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with technical, business and operational stakeholders to support timely project delivery.
• Ensure compliance with software development methodologies, security standards and quality assurance processes.
• Develop technical documentation and progress reports, monitor workloads and transfer knowledge to team members.

To be successful in this role you are required to have the following;

• Demonstrated experience designing, developing, testing and supporting Java/J2EE and Angular applications and integration services in complex enterprise environments.
• Experience with secure coding, application programming interface development and relational database integration.
• Experience working effectively in an Agile delivery team, including requirements analysis, defect resolution and release support.
• Strong skills in Java, the Spring framework, Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and responsive design.
• Experience with RESTful microservices, relational or document databases, version control systems and unit testing frameworks.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, software engineering or computer science, or equivalent industry experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline security clearance.

It is desirable if you have:

• Experience with Spring Boot, continuous integration and delivery pipelines, automated testing, DevOps tooling or containerised deployment patterns.
• Experience with Kubernetes, MongoDB, DB2, PostgreSQL, business-driven development or Angular-focused front-end development.
• Experience working with Australian Government systems, security requirements, accessibility standards or large-scale service delivery platforms.
• Experience supporting critical business systems and application maintenance activities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with Baseline Clearance.
