Java Developer Spring Boot AWS API
Summary
Backend Java engineer building and maintaining integrations for a financial tech-for-good platform on AWS (ECS Fargate, SQS, MSK, S3, IAM). Day to day: Spring Boot services, Kafka/Debezium data sync into an Aurora Serverless operational data store, Terraform IaC, GitHub Actions CI/CD, and Dynatrace monitoring, in hybrid London working.
In this role you will build and maintain the backend for a financial tech-for-good platform, focusing on integrations with internal and external systems using AWS and Kafka. You will contribute to a data-centric Operational Data Store and help shape architecture and code quality through design ownership, testing, and AI-assisted development. You’ll implement infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring while collaborating with stakeholders to translate requirements into working software. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role in a scaling tech business with hybrid London-working options.

- Develop and maintain integrations between internal platforms and third-party systems using AWS services (ECS Fargate, SQS, MSK, S3, IAM)
- Contribute to the Operational Data Store built with Debezium, Java, Spring Boot, and Aurora Serverless v2
- Own features from design through release with production-grade code and automated tests
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
- Develop CI/CD pipelines using Git and GitHub Actions
- Support monitoring and data quality using Dynatrace
- Engage in AI-assisted development and share techniques to promote AI adoption
- Collaborate with Technology and Operations stakeholders to translate requirements into software
- Participate in code reviews and identify opportunities to improve the integration platform
- Strong Java, Spring Boot backend development experience
- Good understanding of cloud architecture, AWS
- Experience with data-centric systems and data synchronization
- Experience building APIs and working on integrations
- Experience with Kafka or similar data/messaging tools
- Familiar with IaC, Terraform, GitHub Actions
