Java Developer with AI (Codex)
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Java Developer with strong hands-on experience in Java/Spring Boot and exposure to AI-assisted software development, particularly Codex or similar AI coding tools. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable enterprise applications while leveraging AI tools to improve development productivity, code quality, and engineering efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot.
Develop robust RESTful APIs and microservices.
Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code following industry best practices.
Use Codex and other AI-assisted coding/development tools for code generation, refactoring, debugging, documentation, and test creation.
Review and validate AI-generated code to ensure quality, security, performance, and adherence to coding standards.
Integrate applications with databases, third-party APIs, and enterprise systems.
Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, or similar frameworks.
Troubleshoot application issues and perform root-cause analysis.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical design discussions.
Work with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, and deployments.
Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA engineers, and other development teams in an Agile environment.
Explore and adopt emerging AI-powered development practices to improve engineering productivity.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in Java development.
Strong hands-on experience with Java 8/11/17+.
Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security.
Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
Experience with Git and CI/CD tools.
Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
Experience with JUnit/Mockito or equivalent testing frameworks.
Hands-on experience using Codex, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar AI-assisted coding tools.
Ability to effectively prompt, review, debug, modify, and validate AI-generated code.
Good understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
Good to Have
Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Knowledge of Kafka or other messaging technologies.
Experience with React/Angular is an advantage.
Exposure to LLMs, Generative AI, or AI-powered developer tools.
Experience implementing automated testing using AI-assisted development tools.
Knowledge of secure coding practices and application performance optimization.

Candidates should have practical experience using Codex or comparable AI coding assistants as part of their day-to-day development activities, rather than only having general knowledge of Generative AI.
