Java Software Engineer (Camunda)

Summary

Design and implement BPMN workflows and DMN decisions in Camunda 7 for a large Canadian bank, integrating with Java/Spring Boot microservices on AWS.

I'm hiring a Camunda 7 Developer for a 1-year contract with one of Canada's largest banks, sitting with a 15-person team in downtown Toronto. Hybrid, 2 days per week in office (Mondays and Fridays), with strong potential for extension and a real path to full-time conversion.

The work: designing and implementing BPMN workflows and DMN decisions in Camunda 7, integrated with Java/Spring Boot microservices and deployed on AWS. You'll own process models end to end — modeling in Camunda Modeler, production troubleshooting in Cockpit, containerized deployment with Docker and Kubernetes, and performance tuning down to the SQL layer. The team is collaborative, the project is already in flight, and they're adding capacity for new work — so you'd be joining something moving, not waiting for kickoff.

What you'll need:

  • 5+ years with Camunda BPM and business process development — this role is specifically Camunda 7, not Camunda 8/Zeebe
  • Expert-level Java development with Spring Boot, Hibernate, and REST
  • 2+ years hands-on AWS (EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, IAM)
  • Docker and Kubernetes experience
  • Strong SQL and database performance tuning
  • Ability to start within 2 weeks
