Junior Data Engineer on an initial 6-month contract (with extensions) supporting a Federal Government agency in Melbourne or Canberra (hybrid). Day to day: ingesting, transforming and validating vendor data and building pipelines and reports using SQL, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.

A Federal Government agency is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to support the secure ingestion, preparation and transformation of vendor data for reporting and analysis. Working across SQL, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. The successful Junior Data Engineer will secure an initial 6-month contract with the view to be extended months and receive a rewarding hourly rate.
The Junior Data Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to;
Querying, transforming and validating data using SQL
Building and monitoring data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric
Preparing and modelling data for Power BI reporting and analysis
Performing data quality checks, troubleshooting issues and securely handling sensitive data
Collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to support data requirements
The Junior Data Engineer will have experience in the following:
Strong SQL skills for querying, transformation and data validation
Experience with Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric dataflows and pipelines
Experience with Power BI data preparation, modelling and reporting
Knowledge of Azure SQL, Data Lake Storage, Key Vault, Dataverse/Power Platform, Azure DevOps/Git and/or dimensional modelling
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a current Federal Government Baseline clearance, or the ability to obtain one
