Junior Infrastructure Engineer
Summary
Junior infrastructure engineer at a Cardiff-based financial services firm, building and supporting AWS cloud infrastructure for its SaaS products and internal tooling, and helping support Oracle databases, middleware, and the end-user estate (Intune). Day to day: Terraform/IaC, CI/CD, patching, backups, documentation, and proof-of-concept work.
Help build and support the cloud infrastructure that underpins our SaaS products and internal tooling – this will be your primary focus.
Support our Oracle RDBMS and middleware and our end user computing estate – for example, database patching and backups, user requests, and device management through Intune – learning these technologies and helping the wider team support them (no prior experience needed).
Plan, implement and test solutions with growing independence, knowing when to ask for help.
Learn how our infrastructure works and suggest improvements.
Help build proof-of-concept solutions to evaluate new technologies.
Write clear documentation so others can understand and build on your work.
Learn from experienced engineers, who will mentor you on technology, architecture and best practices.
What you’ll bring
A proactive, self-starting attitude and a willingness to ask questions.
Curiosity and an appetite for exploring new technologies.
A genuine enjoyment of learning from others and sharing what you learn.
A belief that constant improvement underpins good engineering.

A basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines that enable automated, reliable delivery of infrastructure changes.
Awareness of monitoring and observability concepts, including metrics, logging, and alerting.
