Junior Java Software Engineer

This isn't a role where you'll simply implement someone else's design. You'll work closely with experienced engineers, customers, and technical teams to understand business requirements, design practical solutions, and develop software that delivers measurable value.

You'll gain exposure to large-scale business systems, modern software engineering practices, and technologies that support critical operational platforms across telecommunications, automation, payments, mapping, and systems integration.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Java applications.
• Collaborate with experienced software engineers to design scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Work directly with customers to understand operational challenges and translate requirements into software solutions.
• Develop applications using modern object-oriented principles, design patterns, and best engineering practices.
• Contribute across multiple technologies including web applications, integrations, databases, APIs, mobile solutions, GIS, automation platforms, and network-related systems.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Continuously learn new technologies and apply them to solve business problems.

Required Technical Skills

• Good understanding of Java programming.
• Exposure to HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.
• Exposure to Object Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks such as Hibernate or similar.
• Familiarity with Java application servers or servlet containers (Tomcat, Jetty, GlassFish or similar).
• Experience using Java development environments such as IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse or NetBeans.
• Practical exposure to relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Advantageous Skills

Experience or exposure to any of the following would be beneficial:

• Git or other version control systems.
• Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile team environments.
• Linux operating systems.
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, Internet technologies).
• REST APIs and systems integration.
• Business processes, finance or accounting concepts.
