About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Lead AI Engineer to join our core AI engineering team and build next-generation AI solutions for an enterprise insurance technology platform.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Generative AI, LLMs, Agentic AI, Python, Azure AI and intelligent document processing, along with experience delivering scalable, production-ready AI applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop production-grade GenAI and LLM-based applications.
• Build intelligent AI agents using tool/function calling, orchestration and multi-step workflows.
• Develop Document AI solutions for document classification, information extraction and summarisation.
• Work with foundation models such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude and other comparable models.
• Implement prompt engineering, structured outputs, evaluation frameworks and AI guardrails.
• Monitor AI performance and optimise latency, token consumption, quality and cost.
• Integrate AI solutions with REST APIs, databases and enterprise applications.
• Drive end-to-end AI solution development, deployment and production monitoring.
• Mentor AI engineers and establish engineering best practices.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Programming: Strong hands-on experience in Python and Applied AI.
• GenAI & LLM: Production-grade experience with Generative AI, LLMs and AI applications.
• Agentic AI: AI Agents, Function Calling, Tool Calling and Workflow Orchestration.
• Azure AI: Azure AI, Microsoft Foundry and Azure OpenAI.
• Agent Frameworks: LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, Microsoft Agent Framework or similar.
• Foundation Models: OpenAI, Anthropic Claude or equivalent.
• Document AI: Document Classification, Data Extraction and Summarisation.
• AI Quality: Prompt Engineering, Evaluation, Guardrails and AI Observability.
• Backend: REST APIs, Asynchronous Processing and PostgreSQL.
• DevOps: Git, Docker, CI/CD, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• AI Development Tools: Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or similar.

Experience & Leadership Requirements

• 6-10 years of experience in AI/ML Engineering, Applied AI or Software Engineering with substantial GenAI/LLM experience.
• Proven experience taking AI solutions from prototype to production deployment.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability and maintainable architecture.
• Experience mentoring AI engineers and driving technical decisions.
• Enterprise workflow experience and insurance domain knowledge are advantageous.
• Candidates must have strong hands-on production experience in GenAI/LLM.
• Strong expertise in Agentic AI and AI workflow orchestration is essential.
• Azure AI / Azure OpenAI experience is mandatory.
