Lead Business Analyst | Federal Government

MuraConnect is partnering with a Federal Government agency to find an experienced Lead Business Analyst to support a major digital transformation program. This is an initial six month contract until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of a further six month extension.
You'll be joining an established team working to improve the systems and processes behind a national government grants program. It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting to the heart of business problems, working with different stakeholders and helping teams deliver practical solutions that make a difference.

The Role
As the Lead Business Analyst, you'll play a key role in understanding business needs, shaping requirements and supporting the delivery of digital solutions. You'll work closely with Solution Architects, Product Managers, Delivery Managers, developers and testers to make sure everyone is working towards the same outcome.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading workshops and discussions with stakeholders to understand business needs, challenges and opportunities for improvement.
• Gathering, analysing and documenting business and technical requirements.
• Developing user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, journey maps and functional specifications.
• Working with technical teams to translate business requirements into practical solutions.
• Identifying gaps in existing processes and recommending improvements.
• Supporting testing, managing issues and ensuring solutions meet business expectations.
• Building strong relationships across business and technical teams to keep delivery moving in the right direction.
• Contributing to solution designs that consider security, data management and future business needs.

About You
We're looking for someone who is confident working with stakeholders, comfortable navigating complex requirements and genuinely enjoys solving problems.

You'll know how to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions when needed and bring people together to find a practical way forward.

You will bring:

• At least 5 years of experience in business analysis.
• Proven experience working on complex digital projects, ideally within government or large organisations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation and negotiation skills.
• Experience preparing process maps, business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and business cases.
• The ability to communicate clearly with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM would be highly regarded.
• Familiarity with Miro, Azure DevOps and prototyping tools such as Axure RP would be advantageous.
