Summary
Contract Lead Business Designer (EL1-equivalent, 12+12 months) for a recruiter placing into an Australian Government disability services body: leading business design work — process maps, operating models, capability maps, service blueprints — using human-centred design in complex ICT transformation. Hybrid across QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW, SA, TAS; baseline security clearance required. $120-140/hr inc.

Our client, who supports a better life for hundreds of thousands of Australians with significant and permanent disability, and their families and carers, is seeking a Lead Business Designer.
Duties of the Lead Business Designer
- Lead and undertake business design activities to understand current-state services, processes, capabilities and operating environments and identify opportunities for improvement;
- Apply human-centred and business design approaches to ensure business solutions appropriately consider user, operational and organisational needs;
- Map and analyse business processes, customer and staff journeys, capabilities, roles, interactions and dependencies across complex service environments;
- Develop business design artefacts, including current and future-state process maps, operating models, capability maps, service blueprints and other relevant documentation;
- Work collaboratively with business analysts, service designers, user researchers, architects and product teams to ensure alignment between business needs, service design and technology solutions;
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of business design practices, tools, methods and reusable artefacts across ICT programs and projects.
Skills and Experience Required
- Demonstrated extensive experience in business design, service transformation, operating model design or a closely related discipline within a complex digital or ICT environment;
- Strong analytical and systems-thinking capability, with demonstrated ability to understand relationships between people, process, technology and organisational requirements;
- Experience undertaking business design within a large or complex Australian Government ICT or digital transformation program;
- Experience supporting implementation, business readiness or organisational transformation associated with significant technology change.
