Lead DevOps Engineer
Summary
Lead DevOps Engineer designs and implements secure, scalable Azure cloud architectures, sets IaC standards with Terraform/ARM, and guides teams on CI/CD and Kubernetes deployments for a U.S. government program.
Responsibilities
- Design and oversee highly available, secure, and scalable Azure architectures
- Define enterprise Azure reference architectures, patterns, and best practices
- Establish architectural guidance for Azure identity, governance, and monitoring
- Define architectural standards for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and ARM templates
- Guide DevOps teams in implementing automated CI/CD pipelines
- Provide architectural oversight of container-based deployment models including Kubernetes and AKS
- Lead architecture planning for migration of on-premises workloads to Azure
- Define Azure governance strategies including Azure Policy and RBAC
- Serve as the technical authority for Azure architecture across the program
- Translate mission needs into technical architecture strategies and roadmaps
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Current or previous Public Trust designation
- Minimum 6 years of experience designing and implementing Azure cloud architectures
- Minimum 6 years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and ARM templates
- Minimum 6 years of DevOps experience focused on Azure technologies
- Experience with CI/CD strategies using Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins, or Artifactory
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, and Python
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Azure certifications (Solutions Architect Expert, Administrator Associate, or DevOps Engineer Expert)
- Experience supporting U.S. federal cloud environments and compliance frameworks
- Experience leading cloud transformation initiatives in complex enterprise environments
