Lead Java Developer (m/w/d)

A role with a high degree of autonomy at the technical core of Switzerland's banking infrastructure.

Your Role & Responsibilities

• Take on technical leadership within the team, shape its technical direction, and lead by example as a subject-matter role model

• Further develop, stabilize, and operate an established, business-critical legacy system built on Spring Boot

• Own the architecture and operation of high-volume Kafka event-streaming pipelines

• Maintain and modernize a large existing codebase, balancing stability with continuous improvement

• Mentor developers and define technical standards and best practices for the team

• Work closely with architects, product owners, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions

• Ensure code quality, performance, and reliability in systems where precision and stability are non-negotiable

Required Technical & Professional Expertise

• Expert-level Java developer with proven experience as a lead developer

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Spring Boot in production

• At least 5 years of solid, hands-on Apache Kafka expertise, particularly in high-volume environments

• Experience working in mature, established legacy system landscapes

• Knowledge of Oracle databases is an advantage, but not a priority

• Experience in financial services or insurance is an advantage

• Excellent German skills (mandatory); fluent English

• Strong communication skills and the ability to lead through expertise and credibility, not just by title
